FAQ

Q: Is your produce certified organic?

A: All of our produce is grown without the use of chemical pesticides or herbicides and without the use of genetically modified seeds. Sprays that we do use include fish, garlic, compost teas and herbal teas. Because of the diversity of crops we grow, we choose not to be certified organic. We are transparent in our practices, and desire to grow food in a way that supports and encourages a flourishing ecosystem. We use methods of farming that are beneficial to the environment.

Q: What do you grow?

A: We grow over 100 varieties of fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Our property includes about 8 acres of vegetables and herbs, 10 acres of fruit trees, nut trees, and berries, and 25 acres of forest where we harvest wild edibles and tap the maple trees for syrup. Take a look at our list of produce and our harvest schedule for more information!

Q: Do you have bees on the farm? What practices do you have to encourage pollinators on the farm?

A: Because of the diversity of crops, and because we don’t use chemical sprays, we have a large variety of pollinators on the farm. There are also bee hives on the property.

Q: Do you save seeds?

A: We wish we had more time to seed save. We are hoping to make this a priority in the future. It takes a lot of time and energy to save seeds, and we have decided to focus our efforts on growing and selling produce instead. For more information about the importance of seed saving, please visit Seeds of Diversity. We also highly recommend the book called ‘How to save your own seeds’.

Q: What are your hours?

A: We are closed for the season.  See “This Week’s Letter” for updates

Q: Do you offer pick your own?

A: Because we have such a wide variety of produce growing on our farm, we do not have enough of any one crop to allow for pick your own. We pick and pack orders for our customers and also have produce available in the market during open hours.

Q: Do you offer tours?

A: Yes, we do! We offer group tours upon request for school groups, community groups, etc. Please visit our tours page for more information.

Q: Do you offer workshops?

A: Yes! Please visit our workshops page for more information.

Q: Do you take volunteers on the farm?

A: Yes! Volunteers are welcome to come for 1-6 hours per day and in exchange we provide you with some produce. We will teach you what you are going to do when you arrive.  Please bring a water bottle and weather appropriate clothing. We do not take volunteers on Saturdays or Sundays. Please contact us for more information!

Q: Can I purchase soil from you?

A: We use all of the soil we produce. Our main focus on the farm is to make good quality soil so we can continue to produce food that is full of nutrients and will sustain life for the future years to come. We are happy to share how we support the growth of good quality soil!

Q: What is a CSA?

A: CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It allows residents in the community access to fresh, organic produce grown locally. When you purchase a CSA share, you pay for an entire season of produce up front. This bulk payment made before the season begins allows us to plan for the season accordingly.  We no longer offer CSA shares.

Q: Do you offer herbs for sale (culinary and/or medicinal?)

A: Yes, we always include availability of herbs in our newsletter. If you are interested in specific herbs please contact us before the season begins and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences.

Q: Can I come pick up my order early?

A: We typically prepare orders the day they are being picked up. If you are unable to make it Thursday between 9-5pm please call us as early as possible in the week and we will do our best to make other arrangements.
